Petrus Gyllius was a French natural scientist from the 16th-century whose works ranged from topographical to studying about fish of the Mediterranean Sea. His most famous work was 'De Topographia Constantinopoleos', a topographical sketch of the city of Constantinople and Byzantine culture and politics. Published by Elzevier in Lyon, this 1632 first edition features the classic illustrated title page that Elzevier was known for; this page includes a city view of Constantinople.
