Large 8vo, old calf, good copy with some wear, scuffing and stains to leather, light loss to spine head, light strengthening to inner hinges, contents good to very good, some foxing throughout, tide mark from old damp stain visible to last several pages; folding map frontispiece, xxii (2) 567 (5) 106 pp [Clavis Virgiliana]. In Latin, both text and commentary. Nice old American edition of this classic.

All text edges gilt. With an engraved frontispiece. - Near fine. - The famous Delphin Vergil. - The "Delphin Classics" series was created by 39 scholars, dedicated to Louis de France, "le Grand Dauphin". The gilt dolphin on the front cover of the present book, edited by the renowned Jesuit scholar and orator Charles de la Rue, alludes to the Dauphin.
