Whereunto is added that excellent Collection of Signior Septale, in his Closet at Milan...Written originally in Italian by Giacomo Barri a Venetian Painter. Englished by W. L., of Lincolns-Inne, Gent. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION 1679 of the author's 1671 Viaggio Pittoresco d'Italia. Small 8vo, approximately 165 x 100 mm, 6½ x 4 inches, engraved allegorical frontispiece with 'W: Lodge sct et fecit' printed on it, a full page map of Italy after A8, full page portraits with background of Michaelangelo, Titian, Paulo Veronese, Pietro da Cortona, and Raphael, pages: [12 of 16], 1-159, [1] - blank leaf, LACKING DIRECTIONS TO BINDER AND LICENSE TO PRINT leaves, dark facsimiles inserted on 1 leaf, taken from another browned copy, recto and verso instead of 2 separated leaves, bound in full contemporary calf, double ruled gilt border to covers, rebacked to style with raised bands, blind rules and gilt lettered red morocco label, edges stained red, front free endpaper replaced with old paper. Corners worn, upper cover slightly scraped at edges, edges of pastedowns and original free endpaper lightly browned, engraved frontispiece trimmed at fore-edge with loss of 5 mm (¼") of image, missing 'W' and 'sct' of artist credit in lower left corner, small brown spot to lower edge, also showing on title page, another at fore-edge of title page, old ink inscription at top of title page and 'THE' written neatly in ink above title, several upper margins trimmed, occasionally shaving running titles, small ink 'x' to some margins, 3 pages with several brief ink notes, an occasional small unobtrusive stain, tip of 1 lower corner missing from last plate, not near image.
