About This Item

Taiwan: Dragon Art Institute, 1987. First Edition. 4to. 105 color plates with descriptions (including 1 fold-out); Artist Biography. Text in English and Chinese. Black perfect bound wrappers with white lettering in fine condition (minor wear; small scrape to spine head of Volume 1). Jo Wang Hess was born in Peking, China, in 1939 and began studying classical Chinese and working with brush and ink at the age of four. Married to a diplomat in the United States Foreign Service, Wang lived in various parts of the world, continuing with her art work and teaching wherever she lived. In 1974, she moved to the Monterey Peninsula and began her studies with Chang Tai-chien, the late, great master of Chinese painting.
