Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1935. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo. Pp. x, 102. Glossy black coated cloth, titles and rules in red on the cover and spine. Laid paper, top edge trimmed. NY bookseller tag on back endpaper. In the printed dust jacket, unclipped. Rectangular offset stains on the free endpapers, spine ends lightly rubbed, top edge dust. Leaves mildly age-toned. Jacket edges rubbed. Written soon after MacLeish's return to the US from France, in the midst of the Great Depression. The original production (and last until 1980) featured Orson Welles in his first leading performance. Dust jacket preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
