The binding measures about 15 1/2 inches tall by 11 inches wide. Bound in half leather with cloth-covered boards. The spine has completely disintegrated and the boards are just barely holding on. Corners rubbed and chipped. Paper label on the front cover has "Methodism in Beaufort" handwritten in ink. The original ledge was for the "Queen (Fire) Insurance Company of Liverpool, England" with the office in New York. Three leaves have been cut out at the front, but this may have been of different material. The first page reads, "Methodism in Beaufort..." and serves as a title page. The front pastedown has (pasted down) a letter from C. P. Jones entitled "Brief Historical Statement," which is about 3 pages long. The page after the title page begins the history,…

Hardcovers bound in black and blue cloth. The bindings show light wear overall. Many of the bindings have some foxing on the fore edges and heavier foxing and dust-staining on the top edges of the text blocks. The text of the set appears clean. Volume 7 (containing the portions of covering the Battle of Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina) have some post-it note tabs with notes protruding from the top of the Index section (with no writing in the text of the book itself). This set had belong to North Carolina historian Lindley Butler, although he did not sign the set. The notations on the post-it notes are his. Volume I is dated 1976 and covers December, 1766 to December, 1776. Volume 13 is dated 2005 and covers 22 May, 1783 to 13 June, 1786 and contains some Additions to the Series. Estimated weight of the set boxed up is 35 pounds.

The front pastedown is torn away, revealing the front wooden board. Lacks the clasp. Several signatures a bit sprung.
