IIRR Book Project, Silong, Cavite Philippines, 1989. -----Not a common book to find in any case, but this particular copy is inscribed by Flavier on the title page in blue ink: "To Robert Ley Juan Flavier. " Juan Flavier was a country doctor for 30 years in the Philippines. As a result of his work he was eventually appointed President of the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement, and later President of the International Institute of Rural reconstruction. In 1992 he was appointed Secretary of the Philippine Department of Health. Then he was elected Senator in 1995 and served two terms. He authored and sponsored numerous bills regarding public health, indigenous peoples rights, traditional medicine and a whole range of other health and social reform related acts. He published the stories of his life as a rural doctor in a weekly article for the Philippine Star. This is volume 2 of those stories.
