About This Item
London: BCA, 1994. First. Near Fine/Near Fine. From the publisher:
Elaine Stalker, newly elected MP, has worked hard for her election to Westminster. But the unequivocally masculine atmosphere of the House of Commons is a hostile environment for an attractive, ambitious woman and Elaine is frustrated when her talents are ignored. Relishing his powerful role as wheeler-dealer, whip Roger Dickson provides a sympathetic ear for Elaine. At first their relationship is strictly professional; but a shared passion for politics proves an aphrodisiac and late-night sittings offer ample opportunities for discussions of a more private nature...
Edwina Currie (b. 1946) is a British writer, broadcaster and former politician, serving as Conservative Party Member of Parliament for South Derbyshire from 1983 until 1997. She was a Junior Health Minister for two years, resigning in 1988 during the salmonella-in-eggs controversy. By the time she lost her seat as an MP in 1997, she had begun a new career as a novelist and broadcaster. She is the author of six novels, and she has also written four works of non-fiction.
This first edition is near fine in black cloth with gilt titles on the spine. Just slight age toning of the text. Otherwise, no marks or damage at all. The unclipped DJ has very slight edge wear, but is also near fine. It is signed by Currie on the title page.
