The book covers in depth, history of indians, explorations to Canada and Passamaquoddy Bay, settlement of the area from 1604 thru the arrival of the loyalists in 1783, the 59 year dispute over the boundary between U.S. and Canada, a complete history of Deer Island including the Loyalists' strugggle for land (over thirty years) from Thomas Farrell, and letters, records, pictures, photographs, and maps pertaining to West Isles. The geneological records of many of the 84 families covered, are traced to the early seventeen hundreds from research into the records of Rhode Island, New York, Masssachusetts, Maine, and Nova Scotia.
