One of a set of special "Junior Editions" containing the complete stories, specially abridged for younger readers, along with "some little secrets that Mr. Baum never revealed in his bigger Oz books." In 62 pages, with 11 full-color, full-page (some spanning 2 pages!) internal illustrations by artist John R. Neill, along with a couple smaller drawings in pen and ink. The First Printing of this edition from 1939 (First, thus), this small hardcover with brightly colored & decorated paper over boards is in only Fair condition, downgraded due to these flaws: 1) paper covering the spine is missing, but stapled binding is very secure. 2) Child's name inside both covers in pen & a couple stray pen marks/smudges in text; no other writing/highlighting/underlining; not ex-lib. 3) rubbing to extremities. Else, the pages are very white & the colored plates are bright & clean with a whisper of tanning to edges; NO foxing.
