About This Item
London: Published by James Goodwin, 1813. [8], 148pp. With half-title and engraved portrait frontispiece of Countess Craven. Uncut, in later plain paper boards. A fine copy but for slight marking to final two leaves. A reissue, with an alternative title, of the anonymously published Poetical Tales (1808) by Martha Savory (1781-1851), who was to marry fellow Quaker missionary John Yeardley in 1826. According to Jackson unsold copies of the original editions were destroyed at the behest of the author, although he mentions that 'some survived with the altered title'. This edition is also very rare, with OCLC locating only three copies worldwide, at BL, Colorado and Indiana. Not in Jackson. Jackson, Romantic Poetry by Women p.288. . Second edition. 8vo.

Terms of Sale
Antiquates Ltd
Antiquates Ltd was established by Tom Lintern-Mole in 2007; we travel far and wide to buy, sell, and advise on rare books and manuscripts.
Concentrating on hand-press printing and early modern manuscripts, we pride ourselves on offering a varied selection of antiquarian works on a diverse range of subjects, leaning towards the interesting, the important, and the unusual.
We have a countryside bookshop in Wareham; we also regularly issue catalogues - do ask if you would like to be added to our mailing list - and frequently exhibit at regional and national book fairs in London, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, and York.
We also offer a valuation service (for either insurance or probate purposes), as well as advice on library development.
