Faber and Faber, London., 1966. First edition. Octavo. 128 pages. A play in three acts.Laid in is a short Autograph Letter, signed, from the author to Harry Vaughan Philips whose armorial bookplate is on the front pastedown: "Dear Captain Philips - I'm so glad you enjoyed the play. It will be published by Faber & Faber - but not until January I'm afraid. They always seem to take a long time. Thank you for your kind note. Yours sincerely - John Osborne." Also laid in is a Typed Letter, signed, from Maximilian Schell who played the role of Alfred Redl in the first production of the play at the Royal Court Theatre, London: "Your thoughts are right; it is a difficult part, but as I feel that the performance is being appreciated, I am happy that I had the opportunity to do it."Tape-marks on the front pastedown and front free endpaper and the half-title where the letters were attached. Very good indeed in very good dustwrapper creased and rubbed at edges.
