Published on the occasion of a major retrospective exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the City Art Museum of St. Louis, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and M. H. DeYoung Memorial Museum, San Francisco. Strand's specificity was to work with complete sensitivity to the spirit of place, to the current of life to understand the dignity and substance not ordinarily visible. Additional text by Leo Hurwitz, Alfred Stieglitz, Helmut Gernsheim, Harold Clurman, Van Deren Coke, Henry McBride, Lola Ridge, Nancy Newhall, Elizabeth McCausland, Edwin Rolfe and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Includes a brief chronology and a selected bibliography. Some soiling on front cover of dust-jacket of second volume. Dust-jackets in overall good+, binding and interior in very good condition.
