Jahn program director. [PEAR 89002, August 1989, 76 pp.; 9) "Out of this Aboriginal Sensible Muchness..." Consciousness, Information, and Human Health, a written version of teh tenth annual Gardner Murphy Memorial Lecture by Robert G. Jahn (PEAR 94005 June, 1994, 19pp). WITH zerox of article from the IEEE, Vol. 70., n0 2 "The Persistent Paradox of Psychic Phenomena, An Engineering Perspective", in a yellow binder. PEAR was a research program at Princeton University that studied parapsychology. Established in 1979 by then Dean of Engineering Robert G. Jahn, PEAR conducted formal studies on two primary subject areas, psychokinesis (PK) and remote viewing. Owing to the controversial nature of the subject matter, the program had a strained relationship with Princeton. PEAR employed electronic random event generators (REGs) to explore the ability of test subjects to use psychokinesis to influence the random output distribution of these devices to conform to their pre-recorded intentions to produce higher numbers, lower numbers, or nominal baselines.[12] Most of these experiments utilized a microelectronic REG, but experiments were also conducted with "a giant, wall-mounted pachinko-like machine with a cascade of bouncing balls". Jahn was an American plasma physicist, Professor of Aerospace Science, and Dean of Engineering at Princeton. The lab's objective was to study the ability of consciousness to influence physical processes. The lab was managed by Brenda Dunne, a developmental psychologist trained at the University of Chicago, and had a full-time staff of half a dozen scientists as well as numerous interns and visiting researchers.During its 28-year history, the lab worked to study and understand the anomalous impact that the mind seemed to have on physical devices, including electronic random event generators (REGs). Research was also conducted into remote perception, the ability of a person to perceive information that should be inaccessible through the standard senses. http://www.psyleron.com/pearIntro.html. Despite criticism of both its methods and results, the lab persisted through 2007. See Jahn and Dunne's many 2007 articles exploring the implications of the 28 years of PEAR research https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17560358/
