About This Item
London: John Murray, 2006 0719563453. Hardback. First edition. First printing. Number 1. Fine/Fine. No inscriptions or annotations. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall; 242 pages. A clean tight book. As new throughout. Dustjacket is excellent and not priceclipped. "It seemed a simple enough idea at the outset: to assemble a team of eleven men to play cricket on each of the seven continents of the globe. (This hilarious book tells the story of one of those great madcap enterprises that only an Englishman could have dreamed up and only a bunch of Englishmen could possibly have wished to carry out.)" Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall; Sadly Harry Thompson who was an English radio and television producer, comedy writer, novelist and biographer.died of cancer at the age of 45 shortly after finishing this book. Thompson wrote very few books but they are all memorable in their very diffferent ways. Would make an excellent gift for anyone who loves cricket and has a good sense of humour:- the two atttributes are not necessarily incompatible!
