About This Item

New York: Asher and Adams, 1872. 22 3/4 x 14 3/4 inches. Very good. This map is an eyeful. It is perfect for the person that wants to understand the mapmakers art. As in their other maps, Warner and Beers sought to present the railroads at the height of their visual presentation. The map cover from the Erie Canal in the north to Washington DC in the south. From eastern Ohio in the west to the eastern tip of Long Island in the east. This. encompasses a good portion of the commerce of the middle Atlantic and its hinterland. The Pennsylvania Appalachian mountains set the ridge backs and Allies for the center of the presentation. Throughout the map are railroads and associated places named. It is a vastly underrated map that deserves a monograph.
