Bradbury and Evans, 11 Bouveries Street [London], 1850, first 8vo edition; two volumes, 8vo, 140 x 210mm; pp xiv, [xv], [1] - 288 and 289 - 624 and with frontispiece, engraved title page and 39 engraved plates; green damask, maroon title labels gilt; head and foot of spine rubbed and worn in a couple of instances, one with a small tear on the lower hinge; plates generally foxed; several gatherings cracked lightly but the book blocks holding; overall a reasonably decent copy.The pastedown of vI carries an engraved portrait of Dickens, issued in the form of a perforated stamp marking his centenary in 192. ... ... ... ... ... This appeared in parts from May 1849, ending with a double number in November 1850. It then appeared, as here, in book form. This copy has not been bound from the parts and therefore includes neither the wrappers nor advertisements. ... ... ... ... ... ... NOTE that as the two volumes weigh around 1.1kg there may be a carriage supplement required for overseas, but not domestic, orders.
