An account of his family and early life, why he went to sea, etc. His first experience of Sea Life, description of a North American Emigrant Ship, his first introduction to ice. Peter the Whaler was characteristic of many adventure stories which captured the imagination of Victorian youth. Nice illustrative etchings by Ronalds.
