Bobbs-Merrill, 1934. First Edition . Cloth. Fine/Fair. Large, heavy, sturdy book, quality blue cloth, very bright gilt crown design on front, torn on long edge of page 159. Includes a color postcard of the royal hall at Chapultepec. Signed on reverse of frontispiece page in green ink: "To Durward, Hazel and Durward Staley Jr., in gratitude for kindness--Bertita. October 1934." On reverse of half-title page, "This is one of the author's ten gift copies--(pre-publication," in blue ink. DJ beneath mylar pieces of tape inside flaps, rose background with portrait of Carlota on front, purple lettering and borders, photo of author at top back. DJ has light wear at top front edge, nick and very tiny tears at spine top edge, tiny tear at spine bottom right edge, tiny nicks at bottom back tip. Fair DJ/Fine book.
