Brooklyn: Brooklyn Eagle Press, 1903. 356pp. + errata slip tipped in. Original red cloth with a boy's profile inset in a ribbon design with an unusual color backdrop that darkens from yellow to green, lettering stamped in black and gilt, top edge gilt. Illustrated. An uncommon title, rendered interesting and collectible based on the fact that it is DOUBLE JACKETED. The interior jacket is a glassine jacket. The exterior jacket is printed. The glassine jacket has chipping at the edges. The printed jacket is dampstained at the front panel and has a few small closed tears. Fore and bottom edges of the text block foxed. Bottom corners bumped and rubbed through. Scattered dampstains to the extrerior jacket's spine. Ownership inscriptions to the front free endpaper. . First Edition. Original Decorative Binding. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Textured light blue embossed cloth, pictorial map of Philippines on front cover, 38th Infantry Division shoulder insignia embossed front cover, photo illustrated endpapers (minor wear, rubbing, wear to corners, slightly shaken), still VG- copy. First edition of this relatively uncommon World War II Divisional history which includes a lavish photographic section documenting the 38th deploying into Leyte, Philippines, the combat landing against the Japanese-held Southern Zambales Province on Luzon, the battles of Zig Zag Pass, and the Bataan Peninsula to secure Corregidor and Manila Bay. Sgt. Ed Andros who was one of the Army Public Information Photographers was one of those who captured the moments of Gen. MacArthur’s return to the Philippines.
