Cloth slightly foxed at extremities, perished tape repair visible on the interior (but not externally), abrasion from removed sticker to base piece significantly affecting the "Made in Hong Kong" rubber-stamp, else a Very Good example. Boards somewhat crudely reattached and restored along extremities, brief cracking to spine affecting gilt without loss of meaning, attractive contemporary calligraphic ownership inscription to front free endpaper of a Thomas Williams, mid-20th century ownership rubberstamp to front pastedown, else a Very Good copy overall. Text opens with a short biographical preface "giving some Account of [Walter's] Life and Character," signed by Thomas Prince (1687-1758) and Thomas Foxcroft (1697-1769). The former was an especially notable member of Colonial Boston society, having first made his mark as a student at Harvard where Increase Mather recognized him as a "praying student" (see the DAB 15, p. 232-3).
