About This Item
New York, NY, 1946. Paperback. Very Good/No Dust jacket. Text unmarked . Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Slight shelf-wear and bumping to corners. Stage magic 'zine edited by the author of the classic hard-boiled novel: One is a Lonely Number (Lion 100). This lot includes 18 issues (#s 107-110, 112, 136, 142, 143, 146, 147, 149,203, 251, 264, 267, 270, 274, 307, 321 (321 seems to be contained in another zine entitled "Woodfield's Magicana). Each is a single sheet of 17" X 11" paper folded in half comprising 4 pages. Attractive hand-made design with a varying Phoenix theme and hand-lettering. Some issues show rubbing and creasing but on the whole they're G-VG. Issues contain extensive explanations of tricks (cards, dice, scarves, boxes, coins, etc) including stage patter/routines, reviews of new works on magic, cartoons and an essay from Elliott on the state of the art. One trick uses duplicate issues of Astounding Science Fiction Magazine (rebound with various covers) for a mind-reading trick. A great read for the hobbiest and an interesting period piece Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 2 pounds. Category: Magic & Illusions; Inventory No: 016043.
