Seattle.: The Photomobile Tourist Company, Inc.. 1919.. Black and white photo illustrations and ads, 416 pages, 9 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches, faux leather cover (softbound). Light wear to covers, light toning to endpapers (including a 3 x 1 inch water stain to front endpaper), leaf 31/32 was loose but has been neatly taped in by a previous owner with three short pieces of tape. Overall tight and a good or better copy. Book replete with photographs providing guidance to automobile tourists as they make their way from their home city to a new destination in and around various Pacific Northwest cities such as Seattle, Missoula, Portland, and Eugene, plus the Columbia River Gorge area and Yellowstone National Park. Full page maps show the route in its entirety, while page after page of photos in one column and text in another direct the tourist as to the specifics of making the journey. For example, a small photo shows the road splitting in two directions. A black dot over one of the roadways indicates that this is the path to take. Other photos provide assurance as to what the tourist party should look for as they drive into a town they've never been to. Includes maps with routes and Auto Camp Ground information, ads for Hotels and businesses along routes, Mileage Charts, a List of Advertisers, etc. A highly detailed step by step guide, relying on a lack of development along the route to retain that familiar look of the route, but a fascinating step into the past for the modern tourist. Uncommon. .
