About This Item
New York, NY, U.S.A.: Macfadden Book Commpany, Inc., 1933. First Edition Later Printing . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Early work by "the Father of Physical Culture,'' who emphasized the importance of bodybuilding & proper nutrition for optimal health; he opened one of the first vegetarian restaurants in New York City in 1902. An early proponent of the natural foods movement, he argued that health is intimately tied to what we eat & how it is prepared. In this book, he shows you how to cook food so that their nutritive properties are not impaired, & how to supplement cooked foods with raw ones for "maximum health from food and maximum pleasure from eating." Orig. published early in the century, this is a 1933 printing. Hardcover book has decorative blue cloth-over-boards with yellow diamond patterns & embossed designs to front. 406 pages with Index & List of Recipes in rear. Condition is solidly Good: generally very clean, with the occasional random spot; binding tight & square, pages heavily tanned around edges, whiter in center. Modest rubbing to extremities, heavy at all corners & both ends of spine. Dampstaining to both endpapers, but does not impact interior contents. Our photos show the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand.
