About This Item
Scotland Neck, NC: W.L.L. Hall, 1888. First. Wraps. Minor chipping to leading edge of front wrap and first few pages. Overall VG./No Jacket.. [UNIT HISTORY-CONFEDERATE] Dornbusch III-2026. Not in Nevins. Unusual, has a sticker on front wrap with Bond listed as Superintendent of Public Instruction in Scotland Neck, NC. There was a bitter debate between North Carolina and Virginia about the naming of the famous assault (Called Pickett's Charge to most) on day three at Gettysburg. North Carolina claimed there were more of their troops in the charge than Virginia, suffered more casualties and nastily claimed the Virginians did not carry their weight. Therefore, the charge should be titled Pettigrew's Charge, not Pickett's. A scarce work on the debate, and not too friendly!
