San Francisco: California Press, 1926. First Edition. 8vo. 139, [2] pp. Fold-out map; single page map. Frontispiece; black & white photographic illustrations throughout. Gilt-stamped brown cloth with photographic print of the erupting Lassen Peak. A fine copy. First detailed account of lassen Volcanic National Park, which was established August 9, 1916. The dominant feature of the park is Lassen Peak, the largest plug dome Volcano in the world and the southernmost volcano in the Cascade Range. This volume focuses on lassen Peak in particular. Loomis's photos of the 1914-1915 eruptions of lassen Peak broug national attention to the ara and supported the campaign to establish Lassen Volcanic National Park.
