FIRST EDITION 1896, oblong 4to, approximately 400 x 300 mm, 15½ x 12 inches, 12 polychrome colour plates with loose tissue guards, 22 text illustrations, 18 pages of text, original publisher's beige cloth, gilt lettering to spine and upper cover, oval gilt decoration to upper cover, gilt top edge. Binding very slightly dusty, endpapers have some pale brown staining and light foxing, some light foxing to the blank side of the plates and some occasional light foxing to blank margins of plates, some tissue guards slightly damaged and creased with an occasional brown stain to corner or edge, otherwise a very good clean copy.
