Chicago: S. C. Griggs, 1875. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. A FIRST edition THUS, with same date on title page and copyright page. Originally issued by D. Appleton in 1872. A Very Good volume, in brown cloth and bright gilt titles. A compilation of newspaper articles about the Confederate armies invasion of the North, led by Confederate Jubal Early, in1864. Extremities lightly worn, corners more so. Crown and foot have frayed. Original brown end-papers (front free-end paper (brown) has two tiny scraps at margin - but no markings.) Two pages are corner tip-creased. A white front free end-paper has a copperplate script short neat inscription, dated 1877. Great reference for all interested historians. Interior is clean and tight. Four pages of ads at rear. 270 pages.Mylar protected slip.
