Providence: J.A. and R.A. Reid, Publishers, 1881. Cloth. Good. Red cloth, with illustrations and titling in gilt. Quarto. 304 pp., plus 95 pp. of ads for various local businesses, some illustrated. Black and white illustrations throughout. All maps present as called for. A history of Rhode Island and its cities, including its discovery and early explorations, as well as basic histories of Newport, Bristol, Providence, Cumberland, Warwick and others. GOOD condition. Heavy offsetting, fading and mottling to the cloth. Some dampstaining. Minor soiling. Extremities scuffed and worn. Spine heavily faded to white. Minor scattered foxing and soiling throughout. Large fold-out map misfolded and creased, with a large tear along one edge. Several other of the maps with tearing, some rather long.
