"Pierce Egan's BOOK OF SPORTS and Mirror of Life: Embracing the Turf, the Chase, the Ring, and the Stage; Interspersed with Original Memoirs of Sporting Men, etc." 1832 1st edition; Printed for T.T. and J. Tegg; London. Volume I containing 25 issues in all, Numbers I through XXV. Each issue has an illustration on the first page. There is an Index to the volume at the back. Three-quarter leather binding with marbled covers, marbled end papers, and three raised band and gilt lettering/accents on the spine. Egan was a 19th century journalist, sportswriter, and writer on popular culture.

Condition:
Tanning at the cover corners and along the inner edges by the spine. The top and bottom edges of the spine are worn, as are the cover corners. Shelf wear along the edges of the boards. Tight binding with no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Page 159 has a small hole through the text at the top-right corner. The text pages are in nice condition - mostly clean with only an occasional small, light foxing spot, and some very light staining/foxing(?) to the outer edge of pages 60-76. Heavier foxing to the title page (both sides), and the blank end papers. Old name written in pen on front end paper. Overall the book is in Good+ condition.
