Folder worn with faint dampstains and separated along spine edge; plates in very good to fine condition, two plates have light toning to upper and right edges (outside plate area). This is an exquisitely produced set of reproductions of some of the most lovely of the botanical works of Pierre-Joseph Redoute, printed to closely resemble the original stipple engravings. On the title page it is stated: "Each one of these plates is hand engraved and hand colored by American artists who have specialized in reproducing 18th and 19th century flower and fruit prints. Entire portfolio is produced in the United States of America." They appear to be finely produced examples of the intermingling of traditional and modern printing techniques, complete with faux platemark, but if you can't afford a 19th century Redoute handcolored stipple engraving, they are the next best thing! .
