Very good (1st edition 1936) 6th imp, with unclipped d/j, green boards clean, blindstamped titling on cover, gilt titling on spine bright; maps on pastedowns bright; pages unmarked and reasonably tight with a bit of looseness in guttering. . 8vo: crown (200 x 140 / 8"" x 5_""). Swallows & Amazons Book 6. Ransome won the inaugural Carnegie Medal from the Library Association, recognising it as the year's best children's book by a British subject. This book is one of the few S&A books that does not feature sailing. All the action takes place on and under the fells surrounding the Lake, as the characters attempt to discover gold in the Lake District hills.

Synopsis

Pigeon Post is the sixth book in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series of children's books, published in 1936. It won the first Carnegie Medal awarded for children's literature. This book is one of the few Swallows and Amazons books that does not feature sailing. All the action takes place on and under the fells surrounding the Lake.
