'The Pilgrim's Progress' is a Christian allegory which has become one of the most significant works in the English literature, being translated into over two-hundred languages, and never being out of print since its initial publication in 1678. It is second only to the Bible in popularity in Christian literature works. Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, sixteen plates, and many in-text engravings and initial letters. Collated, complete. John Bunyan was a Puritan preacher, as is best known for his work 'The Pilgrim's Progress'. He was jailed after the restoration of the monarchy as he refused to give up preaching him nonconformist ideas. He spent twelve years in jail during this stint, during which he begun work on 'Progress'. Edited with noted by Reverend Thomas Scott. Stamp to the recto to the front endpaper, 'T. W. Stones Davidson, Laylands, Portslade on Sea'. Condition: In a full morocco binding. Externally, smart. A small amount of rubbing to the joints. A couple of light marks to the rear board. Stamp to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot and the odd mark. Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed.
