'The Pilgrim's Progress' is a Christian allegory which has become one of the most significant works in the English literature, being translated into over two-hundred languages, and never being out of print since its initial publication in 1678. It is second only to the Bible in popularity in Christian literature works.Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and thirteen plates.Collated, complete.John Bunyan was a Puritan preacher, as is best known for his work 'The Pilgrim's Progress'. He was jailed after the restoration of the monarchy as he refused to give up preaching him nonconformist ideas. He spent twelve years in jail during this stint, during which he begun work on 'Progress'.With explanatory notes by Thomas Scott and a life of the author by Josiah Conder.Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the Hathi Trust Digital Library.From the library of Paul Gallico, a noted novelist best known for 'The Snow Goose' and 'The Poseidon Adventure'. In a full calf binding. Externally, with some rubbing and light marks to the boards and spine. Front board is detached but present. Internally, firmly bound.
