London: Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, Green and Longman, 1836 with 20 special engravings (18 of which are coloured) by from drawings by Clarkson Stanfield.
The Pirate is the story of two brothers separated at birth, one joins the navy; the other is thought lost and adopted by a pirate, but not a pirate himself. They are reunited when the navy brother hunts down the pirate.
Clean and tightly bound in full gilt decorated black calf with gilt designs and decoration to front and rear boards and the spine with gilt tile. Gilt dentelles, all edges gilt. Wax (?) coated colored end sheets.
Extremities - Particularly along the hinges are a little rubbed. Book plate.
