About This Item
New York: New Directions, 2003. Pound's The Pisan Cantos were first published in 1948, and the next year he received the Bollingen Prize for poetry from the Library of Congress. These cantos were inspired by Pound's horribly inhumane treatment by the American military near Pisa, Italy in 1945: "Imprisoned for some weeks in a wire cage open to the elements, Pound suffered a nervous collapse from the physical and emotional strain." . 4th Printing. Soft Cover. Very Good. Poetry.
