Good. 12mo - over 6. 255pp plus additional catalogue of Book Upon Angling to rear, lacks dust wrapper as issued, two bookplates, one to front paste down other to free front end paper, also very small press clipping relating to book stuck to top edge of front paste down, not other inscriptions. Boards are original and in good order, spine is slightly faded but it is still possible to read titles which are on a paper slip stuck to spine. Some rubbing to edge of boards and some bumping to corners. Text is very clean with no dirty marks or damage, hinges are tight, the tops of a number of pages are uncut. More "the result of paste and scissors" (Westwood & Satchell) than a coherent text, but redeemed by the groundbreaking bibliography of angling books prepared by Pickering, who states in the Catalogue that it "is formed upon Sir Henry Ellis's corrected copy of the list, which he contributed to the British Bibliographer in 1811, and which he kindly lent for the purpose.".
