Revised edition, 8vo, pp. xxv, [1], 538; frontispiece portrait plus 22 copper-engraved plates, several folding; contemporary calf, red morocco spine label lettered in gilt; joints starting, small chips at head and tail of spine, much rubbing, hinges cracked, moderately foxed throughout, library labels to front pastedown, library stamp and small ink marks to title-page; a good, sound copy. Contains a biographical sketch of the author. Ewing, (1732-1802), mathematician and scientist, taught natural science at the University of Pennsylvania for nearly 20 years and the present volume is a compilation of lectures he delivered.
