London, Fleetway House, 1914.. FIRST EDITION 1914, 4to, 250 x 190 mm, 9¾ x 7½ inches, green cloth backed boards, yellow border to upper cover with pretty coloured illustration by S.B. Pearse (a little boy has a little mermaid in his fishing net), lower cover white with Meccano advert, 208 pages. Coloured frontispiece of the Hippo Boys and 3 colour plates including A.E. Jackson and Hilda Cowham (Dolly you must not splash), black and white and tinted illustrations by Jackson, Louis Wain (5 small cat drawings), Tom Browne, many of cats by S. J. Cash imitating Louis Wain, photo stories of Dutch dolls' antics by Louise Robbins. A delightful attractive annual for young children. Spine partly damp-faded, paper on lower cover eroded along the edges, no loss of image or text, 10 mm (½") split just above bottom of upper hinge, no inscriptions, contents clean and bright.
