Small 8vo, 170 x 125 mm, 6¾ x 5 inches, original publisher's green cloth, lettered gilt, illustrated gilt and black on upper cover and spine, all edges gilt, 160 pages. 16 charming brightly coloured plates each showing young children in various grown-up activities. Amusing prose text in large print follows the same set of children throughout. Inner hinges neatly strengthened with green tape, head and tail of spine and corners slightly worn, fore-edges of boards rubbed, gilt slightly worn, cloth slightly marked, book leaning slightly. Occasional fingermarking, occasional pale spot to margins, couple of plates slightly dusty along edges and very slightly chipped on edges. A good tight copy. The trades: baking bread and cakes; cobbling boots and shoes; cutting hair and fitting wigs; selling shoes; blowing glass; doing upholstery and carpentry; bricklaying; making umbrellas and baskets; mending pots and pans; playing at blacksmiths.
