New York; London: John Lane Company; John Lane, the Bodley Head, 1916. First edition, second issue (with Dreiser's four page commentary to rear), review copy. Large 8vo, pp. 228, 4, [4] + title page vignette of an imp's head. Beige cloth spine with title label lettered in sage green, sage green paper boards, black lettering to upper board. Matching sage green endpapers. Fore- and bottom edges untrimmed. Pushing to spine ends, rubbed at extremities, small loss of paper to lower board. "Review copy/ with John Lanes/ compliments" stamped in blind to title page, previous booksellers' notes in pencil to front endpaper and verso of final page. Else, clean and tight. A pleasing copy. Very good.
