About This Item
2009. Trade paperback. Very good. some cover wear. 203 p. Includes bibliography. . Papua New Guinea's governance, management, policies, decisions and debates since independence contradict the vision of the five National Goals and Directive Principles. Successive governments have not legitimised the National Goals and Directives Principles. As such Papua New Guinea's governance and management, policies, and decisions to not reflect visions prescribed in the national goals and directive principles. This meant that after 1975, the National Goals and Directves Principles was set aside as "something nothing" and not central to Papua New Guinea governance, management, debates, policies, decisions and legislations which is a major cause of current poor socio-economic conditions experienced by ordinary Papua New Guineans. The visions of the 5 National Goals and Directive Principles were to develop contemporary Papua New Guinea as an egalitarian and economically self-reliant society. However, contradictory to these visions, PNG has developed into a stratified society, where few people are very wealthy and the majority live outside the cash economy and in poor socio-economic conditions.
