A very scarce large-paper limited edition set, with this being number forty-four of one-hundred sets available for purchase.Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece to volume VI.A beautiful Riviere bound collection of the works of the English poet, playwright, novelist and critic, renowned for constructing poetry that confronted taboo topics including cannibalism, homosexuality, sadomasochism and anti-theism.Volume I: Poems & Ballads First Series; volume II: Songs Before Sunrise and Songs of Two Nations; volume III: Poems and Ballads, and Songs of the Springtides; volume IV: contains Tristram of Lyonesse, The Tale of Balen, Atalanta in Calydon and Erechtheus; volume V: contains Studies in Song and A Century of Roundels; volume VI: Midsummer Holiday, Astrophel and Channel Passage.With the bookplate of cleric J.W.R. Brocklebank to each front pastedown, and with the ink inscription of Pamela Oldbury to each front pastedown.Published three years prior to Swinburne's death.
