Scribner, New York, No date. Revised Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Near Fine Condition/Fair. FIELD, EUGENE. Poems of Childhood, New York: Scribner's, undated (1920s). Large octavo, expanded edition with added poetry, pp. x, 199, black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and Maxfield Parrish illustration mounted on front, 8 illustrated plates by Parrish. This edition was an expansion of the 1904 first edition, with added poetry by Mary French Field and Julia Sutherland Field. The surreal endpage illustrations -- with a boy battling a giant who is riding an apparently cooked red lobster -- are retained here, as are all the other Parrish illustrations. Condition of this book: Chunk missing from lower corner of Parrish illustration mounted on dust jacket; overall the jacket is fair with stains and chips at the edges. It's all protected under Brodart. The book is near fine with minor rubbing at extremities and ordinary age-toning; Parrish plates fine. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
