Book of verse for children by the "Hoosier poet,'' with "Hoosier pictures" by illustrator Everett Shinn, a member of the American realist Ashcan school, commissioned especially for this 1943 edition (First, thus) by the Artists & Writers Guild, Inc. Slim hardcover small 4to (8.25" x 9.50") has a light blue cloth-wrapped spine with colorfully decorated paper over the remaining boards lettered in black & red script to front. Condition is VG: very clean save for stain to upper rear board. Binding strong & straight, pages significantly tanned, commensurate with age, but supple & unmarked save for former owner's name & address inside front cover.
