Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1865. 256, 10pp. With a terminal publisher's advertisement catalogue. Original publisher's brown cloth, stamped in gilt and blind. Lightly rubbed. Later inked inscription to recto of front blank fly-leaf. Presentation copy, inked inscription to recto of FFEP: 'John Linnell sen. 1865 from the Author' - likely landscape and portrait painter, and rival of Constable, John Linnell (1792-1882), with whom Ingelow corresponded. An early American edition of a collection of verse by English poet Jean Ingelow (1820- 1897). First printed in 1863, Poems brought the author immense critical and commercial success, and ran to thirty editions in her lifetime. . Author's edition, thirteenth thousand. 8vo.
