About This Item
Eleventh edition, in the publisher's blue cloth with an upper board gilt-ruled border, octavo, pp. xxvi, 329. Top edge gilt. Index of First Lines. In addition to Clough's substantial poetic output, this volume contains a good and thorough Memoir of the author, beginning with his birth in Liverpool in 1819, and concluding with his 1861 burial in Italy, outside the walls of Florence. The book is a bit of a fragile affair, with short tears and shallow loss of cloth at the spine ends. Board tips rubbed through. Binding cords are stressed and visible but holding at the center of the text block, about page 144. Previous owner made a couple of very short notes on the blank rear sheets.
