Beautifully illustrated with 8 wonderful full colour plates and dozens of line illustrations by Estella Canziani. A fine, bright copy in a fine, contemporary leather binding by Birdsall. Half dark green morocco, spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments double ruled and decorated with gilt flowers, each with red coloured petals. Green cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. A fine pretty binding on this beautiful book. There was also a large paper, limited edition of this edition.:

Text in Greek, with English notes, 151pp., with a blank leaf interspersed after every page with students to take notes, bound in3/4 burgundy morocco over cloth, raised bands, title gilt within one compartment, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled, a few pencil notations within the text but all blank leaves unmarked. A handsome copy.

Paris: Presso Baudry, Libreria Europea, 1836. Hardcover. Very Good -. 4 volumes: frontispiece portrait of the author in vol. 1; 21 cm. Half black morocco with marbled paper over boards. Five spine compartments between raised bands with "Ariosto" in the second compartment and the volume number in the fourth. All page edges speckled red. Marbled endpapers matching that on the boards. Frontispiece engraving is signed: "Geoffroy sc." The fourth volume includes additional short poems by the author. Text is entirely in Italian. In Very Good- Condition: bindings archivally repaired; covers are lightly rubbed, with some loss of leather at spine ends; the frontispiece engraving has left a shadow on the title page of vol. 1; frontispiece and facing title page, as well as parts of vol. 3 also lightly foxed; otherwise pages are clean and tight.

An elegant volume bound in blue cloth with sculptured borders and decoratively stamped in gold and navy. All edges gilt, faux moire endpapers, index. There is a small dampstain at the tip of the top corner of the front endpaper and a previous owner's inscription. Text in Polish Language. (Poetry, Poetry).

Red cloth with gold gilt lettering to front cover and spine. A very rare title as evidenced by this being the only copy available on the Internet. Gilt to all page edges. Undated but circa late 1800s. A very good copy. 66 pages. No dust jacket as issued. Shelf wear to all extremities and neat previous owner name to front endpaper. The book contains an allegorical poem concerning Providence, Blasphemy, Atheism, Infidelity, Wisdom and Inspiration. The author also wrote 'A Key to Truth, Superseding Darwinism by a Theory of Atomic Force', 'The Rise and Reign of Chaos, A Scientific Epic' and 'The Spectral Rock, A Poem'. This is the only example of this title available on the internet.

Blue reading ribbon. Owner's bookplate to front pastedown of each volume. Volume 1 has cracked hinge but still holding; remainder of binding is secure in all 3 volumes. Light foxing marks to preliminaries with a few pin prick size foxing marks outside of text block. Pages remain clean, bright without tears or folds. Light rubbing and wear to boards and edges. Minstrelsy marked Scott's true literary debut, written and published as a collection of the traditional ballads that Scott had been collecting in yearly trips to the Borders since 1792.

There is a lengthy background on the poem by Edmund Gosse an English critic. Each page has been decorated or illustrated by American illustrator and publisher, Ralph Fletcher Seymour (1876-1966). Some light rubbing to top and bottom of spine. Light soiling to front board. Ownership bookplate to front endpaper.
