*John Wilmot (1657-1680) was an English poet and courtier of King Charles II's Restoration court. He was well known for his rakish lifestyle as well as his poetry and died at the age of 33. He was described by his contemporary Andrew Marvell as "the best English satirist" and was considered one of the most learned poets among the Restoration wits. [Adapted from Wikipedia]
