Description:
London, Undated (circa 1970s). Fine. Framed and glazed bromide print, head and shoulders portrait of poet Ted Hughes (1930-1998), undated but probably mid 1970s, no location given. A scarce image of Hughes, I can find no other examples online and I believe it does not feature in any published work on Hughes. With Gerson's pencilled signature to lower right hand side of backing board, and the initials FBIPP (Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photographers) and to left, London. The frame measures 39x32.5cm and the visible image is approx. 24x19.5cm. Gerson made his reputation as a portrait photographer of literary figures, and his images count among some of the most compelling of the genre.

MP3 Audio CD. Poems Strange Meeting It seemed that out of the battle I escaped Down some profound dull tunnel, long since scooped Through granites which Titanic wars had groined. Yet also there encumbered sleepers groaned, Too fast in thought or death to be bestirred. Then, as I probed them, one sprang up, and stared With piteous recognition in fixed eyes, Lifting distressful hands as if to bless. And by his smile, I knew that sullen hall; With a thousand fears that vision's face was grained; Yet no blood reached there from the upper ground, And no guns thumped, or down the flues made moan. "Strange, friend," I said, "Here is no cause to mourn." "None," said the other, "Save the undone years, The hopelessness. Whatever hope is yours, Was my life also; I went hunting wild After the wildest beauty in the world, Which lies not calm in eyes, or braided hair, But mocks the steady running of the hour, And if it grieves, grieves richlier than here. For by my glee might…

Description:
MP3 Audio CD. Wilfred Owen was the leading poet of WWI, enlisting in 1915 and fighting for two years before being subdued by illness and forced to take time to recover at Craiglockart War Hospital. This is where Owen found himself face to face with illustrious poet Siegfried Sassoon, who helped him through his first steps on his career as a poet. Even though Owen died in 1918, in the three years prior to his death, he managed to paint a more vivid and shockingly detailed picture of the war through his outstanding poetry than any other poet was capable to do. His poems show Sassoon's influence quite directly, and largely represent the horrors of the new war and the gas warfare which was never previously used, and left a deep scar on the psyche of even the toughest military officers and soldiers. Owen also used his poetry to show the impact that his war experience had on his religious beliefs. Focusing mainly on realism and writing from experience ? approaches borrowed from Sassoon once more ? and later…

Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows

It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions…
